Reading List

  • Tell me what to eat if I have acid reflux by Elaine Maee MPH, RD. The layout of this book isn’t the best but it has some good information in it (although much is redundant). I recommend keeping it around if you or someone you know is the type to fall prey to the occasional heartburn onslaught.
  • The pH Miracle: Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health by Dr. Robert and Shelley Young. Read my blog post on this one.
  • Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko and A. William Menzin M.D. I like this book and I plan to implement the Green Smoothies but I find the information contradictory to what I have learned about the pH of foods. I am sure I can modify the recipes to not contain so much fruit, so we’ll see. But her explanations (from her studies) of the good that greens can do for us are irrefutable. I also learned about — and gained respect for — plants and their fruits and roots and various parts that attract eaters and employ tricks to continue and to spread out their species using the animals who eat them.
  • The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet by Alicia Silverstone and Neal D. Barnard M.D. Alicia is my hero. She is so down to earth and real, I love it. She makes a great case for eating to save your health and the planet, something everyone should read about.
  • Rawsome! by Brigitte Mars. I live by this one. At least once a week I make something using a recipe from this book. My favorites are: Russian Dressing, Garlic ‘butter’, Oriental Broccoli, Rawvioli, ‘Pasta’ Primavera.

Also: check out my robust book list: 156 vegan books [opens in MS Word; may take a while to download].
